The window shows four scenes from the expedition: on the left the explorers bid farewell; the second depicts their disappointment at discovering the flag of Amundsen’s rival expedition; the third shows Oates’ self-sacrifice; finally, the cairn erected over the tent that entombed Bowers, Wilson and Scott
